We were in Bali for a fantastic vacation celebrating my 40th. He had all these surprises planned for my actual birthday. At breakfast, they had flowers decorating the table and brought a brownie with a candle and sang happy birthday. After breakfast, he planned a special Sound Healing Course in a Pyramid that he had planned. Following the Sound Healing, we went to a fancy art cafe for lunch, followed by a “Royal Couples Massage” with two people massaging each of us at the same time. Then, we rode our scooters to downtown Ubud and wandered through the Ubud market. Finally, we went to dinner at a place called, “Zest“–a bohemian, open aired Vegan restaurant with amazing ambiance. We ordered appetizers, main course, even dessert. It was a slow, relaxing meal with so many flavors. At one point, the lights went out in the restaurant. Shortly after, Thomas gave me a card. I read it out loud and then at the end of the card it said, “My love, please stand up.” I stood up and he went down on one knee. With trembling hands, he proposed and with big alligator tears, I said, “Yes!” I couldn’t believe it and I was in shock for a long time after that. The whole drive home on my moped, I looked down at my left hand. I’m surprised I didn’t crash. Later on he told me he was happy the lights went out in the restaurant because it gave him time to get the ring out of his backpack. We went back to our Villa and popped the Moet to celebrate! It was a day and night to remember.
